Many people think that pain is inevitable when you have arthrosis (the correct word for arthritis). But fortunately that’s not true at all. In fact, its incredibly rare not to have some arthrosis in your spine as you get older, and yet not everyone has pain. And that’s all down to movement.
Arthrosis is the body’s reaction to movement. If a movement is unstable, too repetitive or too heavy, the body will add extra bone in the area to stop important structures, such as the spinal cord, from becoming damaged. Intervertebral discs become dehydrated and thin, further restricting the movement. As the spine becomes stiffer, normal, every day movements take more effort. This makes the muscles tired and they begin to hurt, first when you use them and later even when you’re resting.
The good news is, help is available! Even degenerated joints can be helped to move more. Arthrosis never goes away once it’s there, no matter what you do. But at Quiropractico Promover we can help to improve the movement of the joints and to strengthen the muscles around them, to make sure that your body can cope more easily with your every day life. Feel young again!
